The occurrence of atrial tachycardias (AT) is a direct function of the volume of atrial tissue ablated in the patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Thus, the incidence of AT is highest in persistent AF patients undergoing stepwise ablation using the strategic combination of pulmonary vein isolation, electrogram based ablation and left atrial linear ablation.
However, it remains unclear whether prophylactic cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) ablation at the time of PVI improves long-term freedom from AF. Effect of right atrial isthmus ablation on the occurrence of atrial fibrillation: observations in four patient groups having type I atrial flutter with or without associated atrial fibrillation (Abstr). Se hela listan på ahajournals.org Conclusions: Crossing myocardial strands and bridges at the interpulmonary isthmus may be the anatomical substrate for electrical connection between superior and inferior PVs and may have implications for local PV isolation in patients with atrial fibrillation. In addition to PVI, some patients in group B underwent ablation of complex fractionated electrograms and/or creation of left atrial roof and mitral isthmus ablation line in a stepwise approach when AF was induced and sustained for more than 2 minutes. Mean follow‐up was 16 ± 4 months with a 48‐hour ambulatory monitor every 2 months. Introduction. Cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) ablation is the treatment of choice for symptomatic and recurrent typical, isthmus-dependent atrial flutter (AFL).

However, the mechanisms underlying the initiation of AF in If you've ever had the feeling of your heart fluttering or skipping beats, you may be suffering from atrial fibrillation (Afib). Though the feeling may be quite disconcerting, having Afib doesn't necessarily mean you have a serious health c We are experiencing extremely high call volume related to COVID-19 vaccine interest. Background: Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) is the mainstay of catheter ablation ( CA) for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). However, for persistent and
However the recommendations regarding long-term follow-up in order to detect early complications and recurrences, as well as its medical management, are scarce and vague.

PPI indicates postpacing interval; and TCL, tachycardia The variant was then assessed as a predictor of incident AF after cavotricuspid isthmus ablation in 87 consecutive typical Afl patients with Cox proportional hazards models. The rs2200733 rare allele was associated with an adjusted 2.06-fold increased odds of isolated Afl (95% CI: 1.13-3.76, P = 0.019) and an adjusted 2.79-fold increased odds of a combined phenotype of AF and Afl (95% CI: 1.81-4.28, P < 0.001). ObjectiveData on the efficacy of adjunctive interpulmonary isthmus ablation following completion of extensive encircling pulmonary vein isolation (EEPVI) on atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence have still been insufficient.
The aim of this study is to assess whether CTI ablation after PV isolation reduces inducibility of …
The impact of isthmus ablation on AF recurrences differs according to the clinically predominant atrial arrhythmia and suggests a possible role of the RA isthmus in the occurrence of AF in some patients. Ablation of class IC atrial flutter in patients with therapy-resistant AF is a novel approach to management of this patient subset. Impact of prophylactic cavotricuspid isthmus ablation in atrial fibrillation recurrence after a first pulmonary vein isolation procedure.

Dual-loop reentrant atrial tachycardia (AT) has been reported infrequently. 1,2 Most reports have focused on the postoperative patient, 1 where dual-loop AT in right atrium seems to be common. More rarely, dual-loop ATs in the left atrium (LA) after ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) 3 – 6 have also been reported. Extensive fibrosis and ablation procedures in persistent AF may cause
